To offer an individualized, self-paced refresher
course for inactive RN’s or RN’s wanting to update
their skills.
Requirements
Most of the course work can be completed online
via computer requiring knowledge about the
computer, internet access, and email capability.
Length
Length of course (120 hours) typically takes 8-12
weeks to complete. Arrangements can be made
with the Course Coordinator if additional time is
needed.
Our Target
• RN‘s who have not worked in nursing for ve
years or more
• RN’s who have allowed their license to lapse
• RN’s who want to update nursing skills to
re-enter the workforce

The Process
First...
If interested, you must:
* Complete the Board of Nursing forms. If your
license is inactive, contact the Board of Nursing
at (615) 532-5166 or www.state.tn.us/health.
* Register for the course and submit payment.
Payment can be completed online or by lling
out the attached form and mailing your check.
* Develop an individualized learning plan with
the Course Coordinator to meet your learning
needs.
Second...
After you have your individualized learning plan
approved:
* Satisfactorily complete the required learning
activities and written assignments.
* Complete supervised clinical experiences with
guidance and requirements provided by Course
Coordinator or designated RN preceptor in your
area.
Third...
To complete the course:
* Successfully complete the preceptor clinical
experience.
* Turn in all the required documentation to your
Course Coordinator.
* The Tennessee Board of Nursing will be notied
that you have completed the course and the
Board will issue an active license.
* Mail in your package of completed coursework,
certicates and documented preceptor clinical
competency on their business letterhead, RN
Preceptor’s name and licensure number via
certied mail to Course Coordinator.
